NON GMO Body Care Products Certificate

Consumers are increasingly demanding clean-label body care products and cosmetics.

NON GMO Body Care Products Certificate

They want harsh chemicals, harmful additives and non-GMO products. The NON GMO certification program is an excellent way for body care manufacturers to demonstrate their commitment to ingredient transparency.

This commitment to transparency is particularly important because body care products and cosmetics are not as tightly regulated as food products.

Most organizations, institutions, organizations or governments do not regulate terms such as "natural" or "organic" that apply to these products. This means it's particularly important for manufacturers to choose clean, non-GMO ingredients and rely on third-party testing to show consumers their non-GMO commitment.

In the body care industry, the NON GMO label is the best assurance that a product has been produced without biotechnology. Non-GMO product validation is beneficial for the consumer as well as for the producers.

In response to increasing demand, relevant legislation is expected in the coming years and will require third-party verification by 2022 of all products claiming non-GMO in some countries. GMO transparency is key for both shoppers and natural product retailers; many manufacturers resort to the NON GMO certification offered by our organization to emphasize this transparency.

Certification for non-GMO body care products treats products applied to the skin in the same way as food products, which means that body care products are subject to an efficacy threshold of 0,9 percent. GMO testing, signed affidavits, and facility inspections may be required.

Genetically modified organisms and their derivatives are commonly found in body care products. Animal-derived inputs and ingredients are classified as high risk due to the prevalence of GMOs in feed and roughage.

When minor ingredients are used as major ingredients or treated as products, animal-derived inputs require traceability and evaluation to feed.

The NON GMO certification program standard requires animals to be fed a compliant, non-GMO diet.

Many common body care ingredients can now be synthesized using genetically engineered microorganisms such as yeast, algae or bacteria. These microorganisms are genetically modified to secrete a compound they would not usually produce, such as odors, proteins, and enzymes. This process (what some call synthetic biology) can be performed on an industrial scale in a fermentation tank.

Live microorganisms are not eligible for micro exemptions; should be evaluated and non-GMO. Genetically modified microorganisms and their derivatives are prohibited in non-GMO products

Our NON GMO certification program holds personal care products to the same standard as human food; this means that these products must meet strict criteria.

Body care manufacturers should be aware that labeling and marketing choices can affect the evaluation of a product. In some cases, a typically eligible entry may not be exempt from the microexemption if it appears as text in the main part of a product label that consumers see when shopping.
