NON GMO Baby Products Certificate

You may have heard of the three letter GMO abbreviation and even seen it used on the labels of some foods you buy for your family. But most of us don't really understand what that means and why brands exclude it from their products (which is why you often see "non-GMO" on labels).

NON GMO Baby Products Certificate

GMO essentially refers to genetically modified organisms that are transformed into modified foods in a way that does not occur naturally. Changes are being made to extend the shelf life of foods to make them more resistant to diseases and insects, to prevent waste and to make them healthier.

The truth is, there is little evidence to support the fact that GMOs can cause any harm to humans, even babies. However, scientists also note that years of study and testing are required before a GM crop can be commercialized and allowed to enter our food supply. In this case, the long-term consequences of GMO foods, which have been in our lives for only 20 years, are still controversial.

For all these reasons, the already confused and insecure consumer is much more worried about GMOs for their babies. So how can baby food become GMO?

To answer this question, there are only 10 crops that have been approved as genetically modified by international authorities and these are corn, soybeans, cotton, potatoes, papaya, squash, canola, alfalfa, apples and sugar beets. However, it is worth noting that GMOs can be digested by eating any animal product that the animal is fed one or more of these products. Baby foods that use these foods in their content can be considered as GMO baby foods.

For all these reasons, NON GMO label and certification program have been developed by our organization in order to create an option that the consumer can trust in the face of this food confusion.
