NON GMO Certificate

The technology used for GMOs has evolved over the years in response to the challenges of feeding an ever-growing global population to create crops that are pest, virus or climate resistant.

NON GMO Certificate

GMO crops are often used deliberately for food and feed production. In some cases, genetically modified products may inadvertently enter the production of natural food and feed.

As a result of growing concerns about the long-term health and environmental effects of GMO, consumers are now looking for NON GMO or GMO Free certified products.

GMO stands for "genetically modified organism. What it means to be genetically modified is still hotly debated, but when you see something labeled as non-GMO, it usually means that the plants and animals used in the product have not been genetically modified for these purposes."

Many people use the terms organic and non-GMO interchangeably – probably because they definitely have a few things in common. Broadly speaking, what qualifies as organic also qualifies as non-GMO because not all certified organic foods use GMO products in their production, but non-GMO products do not always mean something is organic. This is because non-GMO food can still be produced using pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, and artificial preservatives and colorings.

This can be confusing, but it's important to understand that for a food to qualify as non-GMO, the entire production process must pass rigorous testing and various audits.

There are certain agencies that determine whether a product carries the official label of NON GMO or non-GMO. For non-GMO products, internationally independent, accredited and authorized third-party inspectors verify that products are non-GMO through on-site inspections and annual inspections of products deemed “high risk” at the manufacturing facility.

Understanding labels such as NON GMO or GMO Free will help the consumer determine whether the food they purchase fits the way they want.
