A recent report says that consumers in major international markets are against the promotion of genetically modified wheat, particularly in the EU region.

This view seems to apply to herbicide-resistant or fusarium-resistant GM (Genetically Modified) wheat.

It is stated that there are no technological developments that would significantly reduce costs by separating GM and non-GM wheat supplies in marketing channels. He says the development of a low-cost, acceptable sorting system will increase the likelihood of market acceptance of GM wheat.

It is noted that highly publicized studies showing serious safety issues with a type of GM maize reported by the European media may cause an increasingly negative reaction to GM foods among some consumers.

The researchers say consumers may have a more positive view of new low-linolenic soy varieties that offer potential health benefits to consumers by reducing their risk of heart disease. 

While developed through conventional cultivation, soybean contains the GM herbicide resistant trait. But the researchers say there is no indication that these soybeans are changing international consumer attitudes towards GM foods.
